Garden and orchard

These are the fields behind a farm market that I visited last summer. The rolling hills, gardens and orchards surrounded their house, barn and business, what a peaceful place.  The market sold fruits, vegetables, cherry everything and baked goods, customer's drove miles to patronize them.  This was done plein air and has been sitting in my studio until now, it went into a frame today for a display of my art at our newly built library.

More is better so here is the second painting on this subject.  This time the carton was painted first and that was easier than the last painting.

Peppers in a bowl

Sold
Painting the same subject is exciting, the challenge is to execute each composition differently from the previous.   There are similarities yet each can stand alone.

Mini red peppers

Available Framed at the Lansing Art Gallery
At the grocery store they now have bags of small red, yellow and orange peppers. What a variety of shapes and sizes couldn't pass them up. There will be more paintings of these little sweeties.  They are still around and haven't shriveled yet so they are good keepers too.  Pretty soon they will be in a recipe called pepper steak one of our favorites in my family.

Market eggs

Sold
These came from the Winter Market held in the Howell Opera House.  The idea came from my husband who thought they should be painted before he cooked the rest of the dozen.

Vine tomatoes

Available at the Lansing Art Gallery
The vine tomatoes looked good for this time of the year. The BLT's were great along with a bowl of soup.
