Off the Beaten Path

SOLD

3 Ft x 4 Ft x 1 5/8 inches deep
cold wax oil

Around my house are acres of state land to explore. Sometimes it's more fun to get off the beaten path and discover new places.   One time we jumped off trail and came upon thick brush almost impossible to get through yet sensing something ahead.  We broke through into a clearing and there stood an enormous oak tree almost six feet around.  Surrounded by the thicket and the canopy from the tree we were completely enclosed in the forest.  It became our special place to visit for many years.

After the under painting comes the color fields

The under painting was completed 9 months ago and then I worked on the color fields, being the background cloth, blue cloth, pear, milkweeds, water pitcher and table,   This type of painting is done in many layers which brings out the intensity of the colors.   This is my own reminder to get back at this one and finish it up.
