Early bloomer

This is the finished painting.  There have been three other postings of this painting progressing using a technique that began with a burnt umber value study then progressed as three additional layers of color were applied allowing each layer to dry in between.

Early bloomer color fields 2nd layer

I added another color field layer to Early bloomer. The color fields are becoming more defined creating  depth.  One more layer and it should be done.

This painting is a gift to my neighbors in memory of their dog Keebler.

White clematis

My vine has about 20 blooms and they all bloom at once.  I used a new medium to speed up the drying time it worked to quickly for me.  So this little painting turned into an experiment.

Hey you

The stem of the cherry is about to knock on the pear, it looks like a little fist.  I used a different surface that had a little more texture the sides are 3/4 inch painted finished edges. this does not need a frame.

Surrounded by cherries

This pear was very green and it stayed like that as it ripened. The cherries couldn't wait around.  Glad the fruits had some time together.

Early bloomer color fields

This is the first layer of color over the burnt umber layer. Once again it will need to completely dry before the next layer of paint is applied.  Using this technique to apply paint adds depth and intensity to the color fields.

Under painting

This is an under painting, which is actually a value study using burnt umber.  The background is cloudy it contains some white. This layer is allowed to dry before any more layers of paint are added.  .
