Winters day

We were heading home down the back roads and it had been a very cloudy dark day when an hour before sunset some of the clouds opened up and there was a bright beautiful blue sky.  Luckily my camera was close by it wasn't long before the clouds closed the gap and the moment was lost.

Last weekend we had a sunny day which prompted me to head outdoors.  Although my plein air gear was with me to paint it was more fun running around taking photographs and enjoying the day with others.  This is an old barn that sits on the property of a Girl Scout Camp.

This makes the fourth painting involving the berries maybe that is enough for now. I reserve the right to change my mind. We have not had much sunshine and red cheers me up.

This painting has more grayed colors and less detail than some of my more recent paintings.  The lemon slices farthest back are represented as shape and color, just enough detail to be recognizable.  One of my styles of painting is realism and lately a 20 x 24 painting has been drawing my attention.  My intention will be to keep the daily paintings looser in between those painting sessions.

One of the DPW weekly challenge's is to paint glass and glass bowls are some of my favorite items in the kitchen.  Dropping an egg into a bowl for beating is often required recently making pancakes prompted this subject.

These are my boots and my granddaughter has been wearing them every time she visit's lately. It won't be long and she will pass my height and shoe size. Some people think of me as short and having little feet yet it's always remarkable for members of my family to share this time together before they pass me by.
