It's a happy surprise to look into a pond a discover a resident and it never fails to brighten up my day,

Boyne Mtn.

Over the holiday weekend we traveled into Northern Michigan.  This was painted plein air from a balcony during a thunderstorm at the ski resort.  It rained all day until 5 pm.  It should have helped put out the fires burning in the UP however I heard today they are still burning.  Hope they get put out soon we are losing beautiful forests.

Water under the bridge

Whether you drive or hike if you enjoy the outdoors there is a lot of adventure in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. This day we were on a driving tour heading to Cade's Cove where the bears are known to hang out.  There are many scenic pull overs, places to picnic or take a hike on this route.  It was early April not all the trees and plants were blooming which created softer colors.

Not much to say about this one really had a hard time producing the colors and some might think this was over worked or a lot of work went into it. Just noticed two stems in the top right corner and only one ends up in the vase....hmmm interesting.

Turtle walk

There is a swamp on the road leading to my house so turtles are always out on sunny days.  You should have seen me parking up the road sneaking up on them and with the first click of my camera they all dove into the water.  Shocking that little noise would freak them out while cars drive by on the gravel road at 40 mph don't bother them at all.  Not sure how to make my camera be quite.

Rosie the rat

Even a rat needs love.  This one is pretty special and comes from a very nice home.

Dune portrait

The name of this cat is Dune. He belongs to my granddaughter and lives with two other cats, some fish, a hermit crab, hamster and a few other pets, and her parents.

Wetland area

Across the road from my house is a state recreation area used for hunting and fishing. There are four connecting  lake area's controlled my dykes and drains.  The water levels vary and so does the vegetation depending on the water levels.  The water level in this area has risen quite a bit and it has taken on a new beauty from previous years.

Chip on the rock

This little chipmunk hangs out around my deck scurrying from rock to rock.  He might be the same one from year to year it's hard to tell they all look the same.

Gray & grey

Sometimes the title fits perfectly.

Livingston Feed

Today was a plein air paint out at the Opera House.  This is my painting of the feed store in Howell Michigan. This view was behind the store and the sky was dark which brought some afternoon rain. We began at 9 am and turned in our completed paintings by 3:30 pm.   

Rough day

Using quick brush strokes gave him a rougher appearance, however this draws more attention to his eye's.

We had an injury in the family that took a few stitches now we expect a full recovery.

This path is very inviting makes you wonder what is up ahead.

Awhile back these tulips and my camera went crazy so you may see more of these, they were so simple, fresh and perky.

This is the last of the banana's they have been eaten, six more colors of the desert cups and they are all pretty cool colors so there might be more of those and half of them are warm colors.

In this still life the desert cup is about 40 years old it was purchased from the milkman, anyone else have these?
